The Charles Harris Library Gallery is pleased to present Under a Virginia Sky, paintings by Steven Walker. Walker's paintings are primarily landscapes around Virginia, with an emphasis on the sky, light, storms and atmosphere. The moodiness is an impressionistic interpretation of the world around him and a reflection of a deep appreciation of the land in a way that connects him to the rich tradition of landscape painting evident in the VMFA collection. His sweeping views of rural areas, dominated by a powerful, active sky above, capture the beauty of Virginia.
This exhibition is part of a statewide partnership with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. All photographs courtesy of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
About the Artist: Walker is an emerging artist and adjunct professor of painting at VCU and Virginia State University.
