The Charles Harris Library Gallery
is pleased to present the exhibition Soft Landing by Deb Karpman. Karpman's stunning collages are crafted from obsessively
repeated form and color that are in turns fragile, ominous,
elegant and volatile. The works suggest powerful natural
forces or biological activities suspended in a constant state of flux
somewhere between becoming and dissolution. About the Artist: Deb Karpman received her MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2009 and has exhibited around the country. Her work is included in the Flat Files at Pierogi Gallery of Brooklyn, NY and The Viewing Program at The Drawing Center in New York City. She recently accepted the Nes Artist Residency in Skagastrond, Iceland, and the Can Serrat Artist Residency in Barcelona, Spain, both for 2010-2011. Karpman currently is Assistant Professor of Studio Art and Co-Director of Foundations at the University of Montevallo, in Montevallo, Alabama.
