The Charles Harris Library Gallery is pleased to present the paintings of Patrick Schmidt. Schmidt creates vibrant, decorative paintings that he "cross-pollinates" with other artistic disciplines including sculpture, graphic design, craft and textiles. The results are artistic hybrids that playfully tweak the traditional format of painting in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. At its boldest, Schmidt's work literally moves off the gallery walls, reaching out into the architectural space, ceilings and floors in unexpected ways. The exhibition opens Friday, April 30, 2010 and remains open through Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Patrick Schmidt will give an artist talk in conjunction with the exhibition. The lecture is open to the public and will take place Friday, April 30th at 12pm in the Gilliam Center for the Arts' Band Room on the campus of the University of Virginia's College at Wise in Wise, VA.
